Summer Hours

TDS will be open Monday-Friday 10am-12pm & 1pm-4pm during the 1st and 2nd summer sessions

    *To expedite scanning, we ask that all patrons who wish to have their opscans mailed back to them provide us with a self-addressed (name and mail-code) inter-departmental envelope at the time of drop-off.

The InnovationSpace will be open Monday-Friday 10am-6pm during the 1st and 2nd summer sessions. You can drop-off or pick-up opscans during these hours.

TDS EMAIL DELIVERY SERVICE

• Testing and Data Services has discontinued its EMAIL delivery service for all tests, quizzes, and attendances.
• From this point forward, all files (except evaluation results and survey data) will be uploaded to the user's TDS Drop Box in Scholar.
• Users will receive an email (with retrieval directions) when results are uploaded to their TDS Drop Box.

TDS hours of operation are as follows:

*TDS/InnovationSpace doors will be open during PICK-UP / DROP-OFF times. However, a TDS Technician will be available to answer questions only during the TECHNICIAN AVAILABLE times. If you have questions for the TDS technician, please come during times when he or she is available.

CHANGES IN POLICY/PROCEDURE:

During all university Academic Breaks, the InnovationSpace locks its doors; however, the TDS office will be staffed (except during faculty/staff holidays). Therefore:

• Drop-off/pick-up times during all university Academic Breaks must be scheduled in advance by emailing testscr1@vt.edu, or by calling 231-5413.
• TDS no longer has an after-hours drop-off location. If you wish to drop off your opscans before 10am, please call ahead to schedule a time.

Due to space limitations at our new location:

• TDS patrons will no longer be able to wait while their requests are being processed.
• TDS can no longer recycle your opscans (i.e. all opscans will be returned to the user listed on the Request Coversheet). 
• Opscans that are designated for pick-up will be mailed back to the user if not reclaimed within two days of processing.

To aid in this transition:

• TDS has redesigned its Test Scoring Request sheet. We ask that all of our users (except for data/evaluations) switch to this new request sheet, as it reflects the most recent changes in our policy and procedure.

Testing & Data Services ("test scoring") provides optical mark reader processing of forms (Opscans) used by Virginia Tech faculty and staff for test scoring and other data collection. Standard forms in various formats are provided free of charge and results are delivered via Scholar. Services offered by Testing & Data Services include:

• Test Scoring & Analysis - providing student scores and statistical analysis to help evaluate results.
  
• Data Capture - supporting surveys and other data gathering efforts which lend themselves to recording results on paper in a multiple choice format. Raw data is normally provided in electronic format, but simple analysis (frequency, means) is offered on request.
  
• Faculty & Course Evaluation - offering forms with standard questions and additional space to meet special departmental needs. Statistical summaries of responses are provided.
